What Is A2 Milk?
A protein composition made up primarily of casein (approximately 80%) and whey (about 20%) can be found in cow’s milk. Casein is a more complex protein that requires more time to digest than whey, which is a simpler protein. Casein proteins come in a variety of varieties. Beta-casein proteins A1 and A2 are the most prevalent. A2 milk contains almost completely A2 milk protein and no A1 protein, as the name says. Both A1 and A2 are present in regular cow’s milk, though the quantities vary depending on the breed. Out of the more than 200 amino acids that make up proteins, the difference between the two beta casein versions A1 and A2 is minimal: They just differ from one another.
